Kimesha Huggins, LPC

KimeshaHelping couples brings me joy.

I like to let people get to know me a bit before our first session. I enjoy living life the best way I can – exploring the world or the things in my city. As people, we are all looking for self-fulfillment, not to mention trying to balance life’s blessings and disappointments.

Working with couples has been somewhat of a calling to me. I enjoy watching couples reach new milestones, have those “a-ha” moments, and learn to look at each other in new ways. Something about relearning one another brings such joy to the work that I do.

Therapy can seem frightening to some, but I love being a part of removing that stigma from mental health. We all need help sometimes, and therapy gives you that space to find it.

What is your first session like with me?

Meeting me online for a session will feel like you are in my office. I will always greet you warmly and with my signature smile. My clients tell me they find me relatable and down to earth with a gentle yet direct approach.

My passion in this field is working with couples, so when you enter our session space, I aim for both of you to feel heard. Trust is something that is also so important to earn, especially with my couples. So, I do my best to create questions to support the growth of that trust while also gaining a better understanding of the status of your relationship.

With over 10 years in counseling and 17 years in the mental health field, I have an extensive background in working with couples going through various life stages. I don’t see myself as a “traditional” therapist. My sessions are usually fun and enlightening, emphasizing transparency and rapport building.

Helping people along their healing journey and finding ways to reconnect with their significant other drives me to do this work each day. I’m ready to start this journey of self-discovery with you and your partner. Trust the process, and let’s repair what you might believe is the “unrepairable.”

Here are my credentials.

I have a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Counseling from Saint Xavier University.

I am also certified in community advocacy by the University of Chicago.

When I’m not working…

…I love spending time with family, reading a good book, and traveling (which I secretly wish I could do more of).

Binge-watching my favorite shows is also one of my favorite things to do on the weekends.
